About us
COL was founded in October 2014 by Prof Daping Chu and Dr Kun Li, with a Pathfinder investment from Cambridge Enterprise. Since then COL has developed Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) assembly process and driving configurations based on the backplane developed by Jasper Display Corp. Taiwan, and shipped several tens of engineering devices to companies and research institutes, to be used in telecommunication light switches.
COL is working with partners in the Far East to explore fast switching LCoS applications in the display industry.
Our Team
Professor Daping Chu – CTO, Founder
Director of Centre for Photonic Devices and Sensors and Director and Chairman of CAPE. Prof Chu has led the research of the recent development of LCoS WSS.
Dr Kun Li – CEO, Co-Founder
Dr Li has more than 10 years experience in applied photonics technology. He has co-ordinated the LCoS assembly and characterisation work in Cambridge University since 2014, contributing to more than ten patent applications.
